There are 3 methods of updating software on Gateways

  1. AceManager

  2. AirLink Management Service (ALMS)

  3. AirLink Manager (AM)

Using AceManger to update a single Gateway

  • Download and unzip software package from https://source.sierrawireless.com/.

  • Log into AceManager.

  • Click the Software and Firmware button (located near the top-right side of the UI).

  • Click Browse and navigate to the ALEOS software you downloaded from the Sierra Wireless Source page. This is a .bin file named for the gateway and the ALEOS software version:For example, MP70_4.13.0.017.bin

  • Click Update.

  • Depending on the ALEOS software version, you may be prompted to update the radio module firmware as well.

  • If prompted, click on Browse and locate .iso file of the radio module firmware (RMFW):example: EM7511_01.08.04.00_GENERIC_002.012.000.iso

  • Click Upload Radio Firmware.

  • Software Update window appears and gateway will reboot once the update is complete.

Using AirLink Managment Service (ALMS) to update one or multiple gateways

  • Go to http://airvantage.net and log in.

  • Select the devices to be upgraded and click on Upgrade Firmware (UI may differ than the one in the screenshot).

An operation will be launched to upgrade the devices. The devices will upgrade the next time they check-in to ALMS as per the configured synchronization settings.
